if you think you might want to change the oil, first pull the filter and look at all the metal shavings on it. you'll be changing it that day.

I didnt get to look as I had it done at the dealership at 1000. Is this really common or was it only with a few people? Anyone have any idea if it's known with GM and normal or no? Should we be concerned here or is this typical with break in? Any more common with any particular engine? Anyone see it after the 1k change, or was it gone for good at that point. I ask because I switched to synthetic and didnt plan on changing the filter for another 3-4k and the oil for about 6k.
search here on the message board, it seems common. I took my filter into the dealer and they said it is normal and to be concerned if I see that in the 2nd oil change.

Has anyone seen it in a second oil change?
I'll tell you tomorrow if the weather is decent. If the snow melts in front of my garage, I can get the Z/28 out and the Malibu in for service. It will be the 2nd oil change.

How much snow did you have in Indiana? We have 50 degree weather slated for tomorrow here in WI. I plan on doing most of my other Malibu projects. I had the oil changed, but they put on a generic Penzoil filter, so I'm putting on the K&N I have. I'm also going to removed the trunk badging, clean it out inside and install some of the chrome pieces I got. I was going to install the new K&N air filter too, but the parts store forgot to order it.
Last week we had about 13inches in two days. It was around 5 the first day and then it started to sleet which put a lay of ice on top of everything and then that night it snowed. A few days later, we got another 2 and it was blowing so the snow drifted higher in some spots ~ right in front of my garage.
Its 47 right now and windy. If it does get to 55 like the weather guessers are predicting, most of the stuff should be gone.......and the yard will a big mud pit
