Just got my red 6 cyl 08 2LT malibu today, my dealer traded to a nearby dealer in another state for it. It has the front license bracket required there but not here.
how do I take it off?? Has funny looking screw heads (like 3 sided triangles).

Ouch

Not sure how you will deal with the holes in the front bumper.

You may want to use a generic plate on the front.

Thanks to all of you. I guess the bumper plate isn't as bad as I thought....or as bad
as the alternatives. I was hoping to paint the plugs in the holes...oh well,
I'll just find a nice plate and get the dealer plate off there.

The photo doesn't do it justice, but this is the plate I ordered. I was able to get it on and take the photo between raindrops. I'll take another photo when the weather clears if anyone would like to see it.

I also need to get more suitable screws. I have the chrome caps for all four locations

Since I also live in a state that does not require front end plates, I had required that my Bu not have the front plate installed. When my car arrived (from out of state), it had the front plate on it. The salesman remembered me letting him know I did not want a car with a front plate. They were then going to fill the holes with silocon and paint over it, but I said I was not interested in a car with holes painted over. So they swapped my grille section with that of another of the same color -- and I got waht I wanted.

That doesn't help answer your question, but I think the other recommendations about just placing a design plate on the front is the best idea -- rather than trying to fill it and paint over it.

I live near the NY/PA border and I ordered my car from a dealer in NY where the front plates are required. But since I am ordering the car and having it built I made it clear I do not want the front plate bracket on it. They wrote down not to install it but I worry that when I go to get the car the drones at the dealership are going to have automatically installed it. They said they would call me when the car is built and on its way so I will remind them again then.

Oh no...not the 'ordered' the car? I did that here and after 3 mo. car came in LTZ, not 2LT. GM did this 2 times...it came in at another dealer in another state who I am friends with - came in LTZ...guess GM just figures they know better what we want than we do. Hope you get what you ordered.

Same here, but my dealer had two special orders turned down because GM could not supply them.

I have the car now and got exactly what I wanted. The salesman guarded the front bumper with his life so I have no plate bracket or holes. I do however have the bracket and mounting accessories in the trunk in case I ever need them.

Re: License Plate Bracket

how do you get around the front license plate bracket the Dealer drilled 3 holes in the bumper to mount the bracket and now Im looking to get it off how do I fill the 3 holes in...any suggestions
There is no easy or cheap way to fill and paint the holes. The best bet, is do what Pizza Man did.
