Is there really that much of a difference?

What made you change your mind about using it ;)
This board mostly. Someone noted that the factory filter was a cotton element and that it was rated for a 50,000 mile life.

I am not planning on doing exahust or other engine mods, so I figured I would be okay. I have K&N on my Miata and have used them before on other cars and cycles, but felt that I wouldn't need the extra on the Malibu after I got to thinking about it.

Is it still available? How much of a HP boost would you expect? How much of a mileage drop?

Also would it work on an 09 3.6 V6?

PM'ed both droppedss86 and slhaas. slhaas: K&N usually advertises as few HP gain as well as a few MPG gain, but nothing to get to excited about in either case.
