Well I took my Malibu to the dealership Saturday morning for an oil change and tire rotation. The dealership did a great job and they remembered to reset the tire pressure monitors this time.

But the tech told me that since my car was approaching 30,000 miles that I needed to schedule a fuel system cleaning. Well I knew that as BS so I asked him what that envolved and the price etc.. He told me that they would clean the injectors and flush the carbon out of the engine. Then he told me it would cost $200.00!! I just laughed and said...na...I will stop and get a bottle of injector cleaner at Autozone for around $6. But that stuff is a rip off to IMO. The fuel you buy already has detergents in it. It's mixed at the refinery as the trucks fill up. If you see TOP TIER gas...that means it has a double shot of the detergents. Learned that the other day while taking a tour at a local refinery here in Tulsa for my job the other day.

I've used BG 44k in my wife's last car with BIG results. it was a 2000 mercury sable with the 3.0L and had 50,000 miles on it. It was pinging bad and had no power (well it was a slow car anyway) I was told to try some by a mechanic friend and it did stop the pinging and did help a lot with the power issue. was very impressed. Costs around $20 a can and is added to your fuel at fill up. I plan on using some on the BU when i hit 30000. Only found at auto repair shops around here. It's way better than the watered down stuff you can buy at the auto parts places. http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html

Yeah I agree. I have not seen any power loss or MPG loss. No way I am throwing $200.00 away like that.

I would change the oil myself but I have stack of free oil change coupons to use up. Even then...their regular price of $25.00 is pretty hard to beat. It costs about the same if I buy the oil and filter myself.
