Fuel Tank capacity, low fuel light

I feel like my light comes on well before Im out and I can go almost 100 miles once it comes on, around where you said (about 14.5-15 left in tank). I just push it really far sometimes, Ive had an 18.3 gallon fill before.

To compare a little to my Gen7 V6, my tank is listed as 16.0 gallons capacity. If I fill up when the needle is at or near the E mark then I pump anywhere from 13 to 15+ gallons. On 11/3/15 I pulled into the same station I use a lot and the needle was below E by more than the width of the needle. I filled with 16.233 according to the pump.

I have also pumped 16.567, 16.131, and 15.850 and the only comment I made in my spreadsheet was that my needle was "way past empty!!!" when I got 16.567 gallons.

The fuel pump needs the liquid to help keep it cool and lubricated. If it frequently runs too low then you risk killing the pump. My average fill usually leaves enough fuel in the tank that it shouldn't be an issue for me. (At least I hope so!)

The low fuel light comes on at 80km (50 miles) remaining. I travel as close to the 80km as I can before filling (so zero miles/km left), but I only ever get about 63 litres (16.63 gallons) in the tank. Has anyone ever got close to capacity on a fill?

Is it possible at my mileage of 10km per litre (23.7 MPG), that I could get another 30 miles or so before getting close to empty?

Filled up today with 67.4 litres (17.81 gallons) Went 125km (78miles) past the fuel warning. So still have some room till empty.

Now will the warning system learn from this and give me a more representative warning now? Or is it based an a certain position of the sensor in the tank?

I was crazy surprised today when i filled up for the 3rd time. Car was on 1/8th left and it only took 14.4 gallons. Had 336 on the tank. I also have not seen the fuel light come on, and was actually curios to know if there was one haha.

Well I ran out of fuel Friday. Of the Owners manual claimed Fuel Tank capacity as 18.5 US gallons or 70 litres, I was only able to fill up with 67.92 litres (17.94 US Gallons). I would have assumed with neck filler etc it might of been more.

But now I know I can't push it as far.
