Hi guys, I'm new to the site and was wondering if anybody here has GM accessory 18" wheels? I just purchased my 2011 Malibu 2LT and I need to ditch the crappy chrome-tech wheels. They damage too easily!!! If anyone has some pictures, I would love to see them. Thanks.

Welcome to CMF.

If you use the Search feature you'll find a number of posts about the LTZ wheels as well as aftermarket ones. You might even venture into the Trading Post and see who might be selling something you like.

And remember to read the rules if you want to sell. You need to have 25 posts (good ones, not fluff, please) before selling.

I'm sure you'll find quite a bit of interesting stuff.

I'm looking for GM accessory wheels because of the chrome quality and because they're validated for my car, so no warranty issues. I would like to see some pics for offset and overall look purposes. I can't seem to find any pics with the search function. Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Not sure about them damaging easier than a "real" aluminum wheel. In my experience, over time (especially if not cared for) aluminum wheels end up with the surface losing their nice finish.

On our Venture, the protective coating is peeling away from the wheel.

The chrome-techs may be more difficult (impossible?) to repair though.

For either type of wheel, if you rub it against a curb it's going to be a "bad day".

The biggest problem I see with the chrometechs is that it seems hard to find an inexpensive replacement if you damage one. I see a fair number of LTZ wheels (OEM and OEM knockoffs) on ebay, but I seldom see a Malibu 18" chrometech.

I'm ordering my GM wheels on Friday. I found a great deal on the whole package including the computer reflash. I will try to post some pics as soon as I have them on. I know everyone is saying that they're a ripoff but I'm happy with $2161.00 OTD.

Wow! that does seem like a lot of money for wheels and tires. I wouldn't know why you would need a computer reflash because the overall tire height shouldn't change? Hey, as long as your happy! Post some pics after you get them installed!

Whatever you do, don't let them put the OEM Goodyear LS2s on your new 18" wheels!

Just pony up the extra $150 for a set of Hankook Optimos or better yet some HydroEdge tires. The factory rubber is the only gripe I have with the car's handling/performance. They're rated at like 5.5 on tire rack, one of the lowest scores for our available tire types.

Any aftermarket set of wheels and tires will cost you well over a thousand dollars new! I just don't understand how a couple hundred more for a better product isn't worth it! I get the wheels on Friday so hopefully (weather permiting) I'll have pics to post then.
