I had an issue where air would be directed to all vents regardless of where the vent selector switch was positioned. That switch is vacuum operated. In my research, I ran into several threads on various forums where people had this issue, but nobody found, or at least posted, a solution.
I fixed mine this afternoon, so I'm putting this up in case some other poor soul runs into this problem. For me, a vacuum line snapped off at an elbow on the intake manifold. In the picture below, I'm pointing at said elbow with the line repaired. If you pop your hood and don't see a gray tube connected to that elbow, that's your problem. Pull the elbow off, run it under hot water for a minute to loosen it up, and CAREFULLY remove the broken piece of vacuum tube lodged inside of it. I used a pair of precision needle nose pliers to pull mine out. You'll probably need to free up a bit more slack for the vacuum line to compensate for the piece that broke off. Carefully cut/peel of tape from the loom it's in so you can take a more direct route to the elbow. Then enjoy being able to defrost your windows and warm your feet without drying your eyes out.
