Okay … so yesterday in the mail I receive the Welcome to Chevrolet Ownership piece. After reading through it I decide to access the www.gmownercenter.com/chevywelcome
site and enter my name and info, so far so good, until …… I click on the “Add Vehicle” feature for the GM vehicles I own. I select the Malibu and get “Error on Page”. Try it again ….. same problem. Try a few hours later from a different computer (work) same problem. Go to the GM site and find a Help Number ….. call them, rep answers, (English is not her native tongue), explain the problem, she puts me on hold for a few minutes and comes back to tell me it’s a known problem since August 13th. If it’s a known problem, then why did GM Marketing mail out the Welcome cards prior to making sure the problem was fixed. When did common sense become so uncommon. Looks like the “New GM” is more like the “Old GM”. Just ranting.

As of 5 minutes ago it was still down. Now is it GM's problem or Yahoo???

It’s GM’s problem since they decided to use Yahoo as the resource for “their” Owners site. Shame on Yahoo for not being able to fix the problem in a reasonable amount of time (6 days and counting). GM needs to seek a better more robust host.

The helpline said they would email me when it is fixed. We'll see how long that takes, if it ever happens.

I also contacted GM Marketing, no response from them yet.

I told the GM CSR to quit calling me and telling me it’s fixed when it’s still phucked up. She just wants to get the problem ticket closed regardless if the problem has been solved or not. I’ve also posted the problem with GM Reinvention “Ask Fritz” and have not received any response. I hear a lot of New GM this New GM that, blah, blah, blah a lot of talk but no action. My Malibu is the eight new GM product I’ve purchased. If this is how the “New GM” is going to take care of their customer, this might be my last GM product.

I just registered my '98 Sonoma. It's working fine. Something's wrong on your end.

Finally ….. 3+ months later and I’m able to enter the Malibu info into GM / Chevy’s Owners System. Didn’t bother with my Envoy. Thanks GM for notifying me the problem was fixed ……. NOT!

Now maybe I can get the squeaks and rattles fixed. This damn car has more rattles than my 6 year old Envoy.

So, should those that purchase their GM vehicles used be able to log in to this thing as well?
I tried, but no dice...

You should be able to get in. If you didn't purchase your vehicle at a GM dealership, however, you may have to use the VIN search feature to enter your information.

Oh yeah it works now!

Ok, cool. I'm in too.
Now, what all can you do on here?
Estimate when your next oil change should be, Notification of recalls, something with OnStar, Service records (does this actually update with any service done at a Chevy dealer?)... A LOT of advertisements!
Anything that's actually cool on here and I'm just missing it?

The OnStar owner page is much more useful.
The OnStar page in the GM Owner Center? Or are you referring to a different web site?
