I have mine in the same location as elcompaLalo, But am thinking about the Kuda mount, looks very neat.

GPS Mounting Options
My OnStar trial period is ending and I want to go back to a portable GPS. I would rather not put it on the windshield (worried about it falling off or getting stolen). Anyone have creative mounting options below the dash? Obviously I would like it as slick and professional looking as possible.

Looks neat, but don't you think that the compartment cover obstruct the front vision?I mounted my Garmin 255W in the dash top compartment by tracing the outline of the adhesive disc on the bottom side of the rubber insert for the dash top compartment. I cut out the circle from the bottom with a razor knife and replaced the insert. I removed the adhesive backing placed the disc in the hole. The rubber insert can be removed for cleaning without disturbing the disc. This setup does not take up any space in the compartment and does not show any evidence of the GPS installation when the compartment is closed.
It is easy to view while driving and destinations can be easily entered.
