Just noticed last night, my green ambient door handle light quite working on the drivers door...the other 3 are still working. On my 09 Malibu LS.

Is it a burnt out bulb most likely? What's the bulb part number, and is it easy to replace them yourself?

What other three? The back doors don't have them.

In any case, if your under warranty they can fix it for you or you can buy a new bulb and swap it yourself.

Maybe I thought the back doors had them, nevermind that. The closest dealer is an hour away, so I'd rather just replace the bulb myself.

What is the bulb part number? Do you have to take the whole door panel off to get to it?

I'd rather drive an hour to have a dealer repair it free. Its going to take you more than an hour to repair it yourself plus cost.

The P/N for the lamp is 25937457 (fits either side) with MSRP of $46. See DrivenDaily's excellent how-to article How-To LED blinker installation in mirror housings for tips on how to take the door trim off. It looks like you just need to get the door handle assembly off.

Holly F dude, $46 for a damn bulb? That's absurd. I may just pull the panel to see if the clip came disconnected or broken. I heard for some people on here that that was their problem.

I'm over 36k miles, so this wouldn't be covered under warranty anyways.

The price is probably for a whole handle. They are LED light bulbs and are soldered into place, so they cannot be replaced easily. Hopefully it is as simple as a connector disconnected.

i had the same problem but i think they went with a new bulb then what they used on the 08 i have taken it in 2 times for the same issue but its still not right the door panel is easy to take off just a screw behind the door handle after you remove the plastic cover and 2 more under the rubber in a handle. the bulb it self is just a clip for the bulb assembly bulb

Hey thanks for the picture! So they replaced it, but it still doesn't work, or it's a different color now? Did you see a part number on the bulb anywhere? Does it match the one above, 25937457? Thanks.

yes they did replace it but it is not as bright as the old one. My other door light is the glass bulb style not the led. about the part number i did not look to see if there was a part number on the light assembly. Sorry

I got the replacement bulb for the passenger door... $48, outrageous! Anyway, I noticed that for some reason its a lot dimmer than the original, any reason why? It's weird because the drivers side door still has the original that came with the car, its visibly a lot brighter.

I too had my passenger door light go out last year and when it was replaced (under warranty) it was not as bright but was the same bulb and everything.
