On my LTZ there are two "auto" options: one on the left for "fan" speed and one on the right for "source". How, exactly, are these supposed to work? If I set them both (which I will call "full auto"), is the source auto supposed to pick the appropriate source (defrost, floor, vent, etc) for the inside/outside temp? Of does it just blow air from everywhere (as the dealer told me)?

I'm thinking mine is not working correctly for several reasons. First, if I set the temp to 75 (if it's chilly out) when on auto I freeze. But if I move the source to floor or vent, I cook (even without changing the fan auto). Second, when I have it set to full auto, it always turns on the AC but never shows whether or not the air is inside or outside. Even if I turn off the AC, it will not show if I am using inside or outside air (no light comes on until I take it out of auto mode).

Mine works great. I leave both knobs on auto. The only time I change it is if I need to defrost the windsheild quickly. Although I have noticed there are certain conditions that the system will put it on defrost automatically as well, such as temps under 40 or when I run the wipers. The system controls the temperature in the cabin the same way thermostat on my house does. In fact the only problem I have noticed is if the sun shines on the dash board I have to bump the setting up a couple of degrees. I am guessing that the sensor is in the dash and the sun makes the system think its warmer than it is and acts accordingly.

I will admit that I haven't paid much attention to the lights as to whether its coming from inside or out or what have you. I do know that the AC light is on at any outside temperature above 45.
