I'm a young beginner in the automotive stuff, and am currently in the middle of purchasing a 98 malibu. I would really like some tips on beginning stuff to do to the car, any suggestions are welcome.

First, welcome aboard. Does the car already have any mods on it? Read up in the 5 & 6 Generation section a bit.

Okay I will, the only thing I believe has been done to this car so far is the 3.1 was rebuilt.
