You need to buy an intake made for the vehicle or get a dremel and make your own hole. If you put the intake on and just let the MAF sensor hang; the car will start to shift hard like the tranny is going, it will "misfire" and you will have all sorts of other weird problems. You then will have to complete the driving cycle to let the ECU reset.

If you bought one that doesn't have the hole, I recommend modifying the tube so you can plug the MAF in. If you are considering buying one, you should be shopping model specific from a reliable source.

My friend has a cobalt. He just let it dangle. I had to respond to his frantic call.

Stick with the stock MAF sensor and buy an intake meant for your car and not one of those cheap universal CAI's like Auto Zone carries. MP Racing would be a place to look for 97-03 N-bodies and 04-07 Epsilons, www.mpracing.org/store
+1 million. Don't put in an aftermarket MAF. Keep it factory and either invest in the right parts for the car or cut a hole in the pipe yourself. That is the easiest solution.

Unless you are cleaning your car, don't go to autozone or advanced.
