Recently purchased a used 2018 Malibu LS with the 1.5L turbo. It came with only 1 OEM fob and key. I'd like to add a spare fob and key and not pay dealer pricing. I would happily pay for an aftermarket fob/key and program it myself if that's doable. I've been searching through some threads here which seem to indicate I need two OEM fobs? And has anyone found a retailer who can cut those keys?

Any suggestions on how to add a spare (2nd) fob and key would be appreciated.

Buy a key fob on eBay like I did for $45 actual Chevy key fob and it has a virgin key blank. Take blank and have cut at any key cutting place even Ace Hardware does it or a typical lock smith. Then follow this you tube video
