There apparentley is a change on how to disable the "active noise cancellation" in 2019 vs 2016-2018. On you tube for the 2016 - 18 Malibu's, it shows a very easy fix to disable active noise cancellation. You simply lift up the trunk mat on the passenger side, locate the audio power amp mounted on the back of the wheel well & just cut the top purple wire. We just brought home our 2019 & guess what ?? Chevy changed it & there is no longer a power amp located in that spot ............ What now ????? ................ Does anyone out there know ?? ....... I desperately want to upgrade the factory speakers, but don't want that low end rumble. Do the 2019's even have "active noise cancellation" ?

I upgraded the speakers with the ANC still active. I dealt with it for about a year or so until I found that video that you described. There was no end rumble and drove the same but I can hear all the low frequencies like they are suppose too. The ANC held back the bass like cutting in and out.

Rap and Electronic music can rejoice once again. lol

I also have the new 2019 LT. I ran into the same problem.
The new 2019 relocated the amp to the front. I had the same problem in mine. The amp is located under the glove box behind the kick panel. I have been doing the install by luck for the most part. I deseabled the noise cancellation by snipping a wire. Like I said I’m going in blind on this. But so far system is bumping no road noise, but I am struggling with the audio, if I blast the music the amp turns off. (Not in protected mode) could be that I just need a bigger amp? I’m not sure. I’m running a Phoenix gold 600w with one 10” JL audio sub (for now until I get this sorted out)

I went ahead & just replaced the speakers anyway with kickers in all 4 doors (& some dynamat for good measure). I didn't do anything to the ANC & it sounds fine. I used the exact same 4 kicker speakers that were in my 2016 Malibu. I mentioned in my first post above I got the strange low end rumble in the 2016 but in the 2019, it's fine with no low end rumble, so at this point I'm going to leave well enough alone.

I found the amp under the glovebox. Which wire did you cut? What harness? Do you have some photos you could post? I am also trying to get this figured out (without voiding my warranty). Have found a T-harness to break-out the speaker wires

Which wire did you SNIP? I can’t figure it out for my life. You’d be a huge help

I've been wondering if anyone has ever opened up the stock amp from the 2016-2019 Malibu to get a look inside. A photo of the output amp IC chips would show the numbers printed on them. Then you can look up the chip numbers to see what the power output spec is for that model. Most moderate-price audio equipment uses integrated IC output amplifier chips, one for each channel. These are self-contained audio amplifiers that just need low-level input and a power supply. I have looked them up successfully for a number of budget-level stereo's and car stereos. I would guess the stock amp can put out about 10 to 12 watts from 20 to 20,000 Hz into 4 ohms, but that just an educated guess. I'm curious.

Hey everyone. Just wondering if there's been any updates on this?
I currently have a LOC connected to the rear door speakers output from the amp under the glove box. This is connected to a mono amp powering a single 10 inch subwoofer. System bumps when stationery, but I get the classic noise cancelling rumble when driving down the road.

Did anyone find the specific wire to snip (for the 2019 Malibu without Bose), or did anyone try the LLJ harness as suggested by @mhodge00 ?

Cheers

So the way I disabled it was by snipping the wire going to the microphone above the passenger seat.
You have to unbolt the roof handle and that allows you to lower the headliner enough to see the microphone.
If you peel the wire back, you'll see a red and black wire. You can snip either, and it's easy to reconnect them if needed.
I didn't hear any difference in road noise/engine noise, and the sub sounds much better.

And fairly inexpensive for just the ANC cancel harness. Considering the cost of replacing things if you cut the wrong wire...

Hey does cutting that wire void warranty?
It will if they find it while diagnosing an issue and the tech believes it is linked or wants to blame the cut to avoid spending his/her time sorting a complicated electrical issue.
