IIRC there’s some form of lock disabling the shifter from moving unless the key is in “on” - at least that’s how it works on my Avalanche and prior keyed cars.

As for the new Accord - no high end 2.0 option and no sunroof with the manual transmission. Yes, I checked.

Coincidentally I was at my dentist yesterday. He knew I had replaced a manual 2000 Jetta tdi with the Malibu as my commuter car. He asked how it had been this first year. I told him I was getting 41-42 mpg in the Malibu vs 39 in the TDI and wasn’t shifting 100+ times each way from and to work on my one-hour 15-mile commute.
