hey guys, i checked the 'how to' section with no luck. i am stripping out the interior to properly sound treat everything and i can't figure out how to take apart the b-pillars without feeling like i'd break something or have the airbag blow in my face!

i've seen schematics for other parts, something similar for these would be awesome!

For this and future posts it would be helpful to those who are helping you if you would modify your avatar to include at least your model year. Or you could go to User CP and make a sig. That way it'll always be with your posts and we won't have to assume that since you posted in the Gen7 area that it truly is a Gen7. Just a friendly suggestion.

Pulling the B-pillar covers off is a snap, literally. Grab the bottom and slowly but firmly pull outward. To completely remove them you'll need to remove the seat belt but that is a safety issue and you need to carefully consider it before proceeding.

Not sure of the size, but I believe it's a T40 Torx-head bolt. I don't believe that the seat belt anchor being removed will trigger the SIR system, but it's your car, so take the precautions you deem necessary.

Good sig! Thanks for adding it!

-Slide the seat belt height adjuster all the way down.

-Pop the cover off that covers the seat belt anchor bolt by squeezing the tabs together and pulling up and out.

-Remove the screw cover towards the top center of the "B" pillar. Its says SRS Airbag on it. Most people think this is where the side air bag deploys from, it doesnt. That is just a screw cover that snaps in place.

-Remove the screw.

-Remove the Torx bolt that secures the seat belt in place.

-Unsnap the "B" pillar trim cover to detach it.

No need to mess with the battery. You're not mesing with anything that has anything to do with the air bags. And you're not touching anything electrical.

one more thing, though. what about the bottom portion of the pillar? and, then where is the airbag? i was certainly under the impression that it was in or behind that little logo (not sure how it'd deploy though).

Airbag is behind the roof panel and/or the seats. Check for little tags on the outboard rear edge of each front seat.

It simply unsnaps once the top portion of the pillar time is removed.

"A" and "C" pillar trim just unsnaps as well. But those have a plastic tether that has to be removed too. The tethers are so the trim panel doesnt go flying around the car when the airbags deploy.

It runs from the top of the "A" pillar and along the roof along the edge of the headliner and down the back of the "C" pillar. Then the roof bags deploy, they fold back the headliner and pop off the pillar trim.
