the chrome on my driver side interior door handle is peeling off so I bought a new OEM handle for $14 on line, but I am not sure how to replace it. Does anyone have any instructions? I have looked on YouTube, but found nothing. Help please!

What I've linked isn't for the Gen8, but instead a Gen7. I posted a thread about how to modify the power windows to work with the stock key fob. In it, it shows how to remove the door panel and it may be similar enough to yours to offer the help you need.

You can find it here.

Thanks, but I am more of a visual person. I would really like a video to watch on this. I think the Gen7 is a lot different than the Gen8. I found a video of the Gen7, but it's a lot different than what I have and I am scared to experiment on mine because I don't want my simple $14 repair to turn into hundreds of dollars.

Thanks, that video was the one I watched to help me take the door panel off......but I still can not figure out how to remove the door handle from the door panel. I'm scared to keep prying stuff. I already scuffed up the inside trying to pry off the black bezel part around the door handle. I'm guessing that was not the right way because it never came off. That's when I decided to stop experimenting and try to seek expert advice from someone that may have done this before.

Bummer, I had hoped removing the panel gaining access to both sides would make it self-explanatory. The diagrams make it look as simple as a handle in the handle bezel and a screw in the back. Guess not. Hopefully didn't didn't make some last minute revisions and make it all one assembly with the trim panel.

I searched more on youtube and this forum... found nothing. Hopefully someone comes along with experience and came help. Good luck.

Thanks! I am wondering if it's all made together too....but why would they sell it separately if they did? Why can't they just make things simple to replace or at least make things last longer? ??‍♀ I have a 1972 Corvette and none of it's original chrome has peeled off...go figure.

If yours looks like that (yellow thing), then it's not like the Gen7.

With that video, it looks even easier than the Gen7: release the lock on the yellow, slide the yellow back, lift the cable out of the slot, remove the ball from the handle.

I'm getting ready to replace my driver's side handle. Not sure if this was ever figured out, so I'm bringing this one back from the dead. The new door handle has tabs that are actually melted to the door panel from the inside that hold it in. You have to break the old melted tabs off, then melt the new door handle tabs back on the inside of the panel.
