hello im new to this forum i have a 2000 chevy malibu with 130k miles about 2 months ago it started to idle real high 3500 rpm when in park and up to 2000 rpm when in gear. some days it will work fine but must days it runs like that. i have replaced the air controll valve didnot change anything im stuck and and sure what else i can do

Check all your vacuum hoses and ports. If there's a vacuum leak the PCM will detect the air coming in and meter enough gas to correct the stoichiometric ratio. (Big word - just means fuel-to-air ratio.)

Check them all, too! You can use either water or other non-combustible. If the idle drops then you're on the right track.
