I would have gotten a Fusion with a manual transmission. It is a great car. But it is made in Mexico with a Mexican engine and a Japanese transmission. I am proud to have supported my fellow Americans in Kansas:

FYI, the 6-speed autos are the same as the Malibu. Just with better tuning.

When I bought my car 2 years ago I came from a near perfect '07 G6 GTP. So a newer version of that car made sense. To bad the Malibu hasn't been nearly as solid as that car was. The wife likes it since I got my new car and gave it to her. But as of now after owning about 10 GM cars, that will most likely be my last unless I buy another older Vette. GM's service has just tanked and they have to many issues for my taste. Sucks, as my older GM cars, including my 2000 Camaro SS have been rock solid.

I'm a truck man at heart. For the last 4 years, I owned an '04 Colorado z71. I loved that truck, but was ready for a change. Plus, I wanted to buy my first NEW car, not used. My ultimate want was a Silverado 2LT. but I just can't afford it and it's not practical right now.

SO, living near Lordstown, I thought about getting a new loaded Cruze. In researching the Cruze I kept "creepin" on the Malibu. It's a "sharp looking car", i found myself saying. BUT, I was ruling the Malibu out because it wasn't in my budget. However with the current incentives out there for the Malibu and the lack of incentives on the Cruze. It was a wash in regards to price. And actually the deal I got on my 'Bu, it ended up being cheaper than getting a Cruze. AND I got the LTZ! I only wanted the 2LT.

I'm very happy with it so far. I'm already scheming mods for it. Thinking about tinted windows and aftermarket rims. Amongst other things. :)

I gave the Regal a good, close look. I keep reading about how great it is so I had to see and drive one.

It is gorgeous... looks a lot like a BMW to me. I was not impressed with how it drove though. The 4 cylinder Malibu feels much faster for some reason.

Buick also did not have any good incentives, taking it out of my price range.

Now if I can just get a navigation in my Malibu...

Mine would have been a 03 or newer Honda Civic with the 5 or 6 speed tranny

I was first considering on buying a 2010 Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima or staying with Honda in October 2009. I almost wish I had not chose the Malibu. One of the most troubling some cars I have owned in the past has been Chrysler products. One problem after another with Chrysler cars. Now I feel that GM is falling in that spot after owning the Malibu. I have not bought a Chrysler in years and I am feeling like I own one again but it is made from GM, Chevy Malibu! I like the car but I agree with SILVER LTZ, too many problems. I have owned three Honda’s and never experience so many problems like I have with the Malibu. The Malibu is suppose to compete with Honda, I just don't see how with so many problems! Again I like my Malibu but I have to be real and tell the truth! If I could do it over today it would be either a New Ford Taurus, Fusion or a New F-150 truck. My wife has a 08 Ford Focus and it has been problem free while the Malibu is in a mid-size higher class and has been in the Shop non-stop and we spent way more money on the Malibu. If I decide to change, I might even go with a Chevy Cruze or a 2012 Ford Focus that will get 40 MPG, who knows what the gas prices will be like in the future? Everybody likes their V6 & V8 engines but sooner or later it is going to hit our pockets harder. Until then I am really trying to stick-it out with the Malibu and hope the problems come to an end and I can enjoy the car and not regret buying it. I have owned 2 Pontiac Grand-Am’s , Chevy S10 extended cab truck with the "4.3", GMC Yukon XL and Now the Malibu for GM Products. The Grans-Am,s were good when new then sucked later on, the S10 was pretty good, The Yukon was excellent, and now the Malibu I have a Big ???????????????. Many of my family members have owned one GM product after another for years. I have tried different products and hope I did not make a mistake with the Malibu! Again I like the Malibu with a few dislikes but over-all a nice car. The Major/Complaint that I have with the car is RELIABILITY AND RESALE VALUE!

I only looked at the Malibu. I have had so many problems with Honda's and the service departments. I won't own a Toyota with all of there problems. And not just the ones that are in the news. I had so many problems with Ford trucks in the past that I stay away from them. I have always looked to GM first.

When I was burying my old car I was expecting to end up with another used car in an unbroken string of used cars my whole life. I was test driving a 2008 Impala V6. It had 31,000 miles on it, rode very nicely, and was truly beautiful. I had a tough decision but took the 'Bu. At the time I thought that it, too, was an '08, but when I discovered it was actually an '09 the choice became much easier.

Prior to that test drive I had been to a Kia dealership and driven several Optimas. None of them piqued my interest, even though a buddy of mine had had 2, and they were both beautiful cars, comfortable, and what made me go there in the first place.

I like Silver LTZ, wanted the Mazda3 so bad and equally the Ford Fusion. My wife is a Chevy women and we liked what we saw in the Malibu and we have a great dealership we deal with, so that made for an easy choice.

I drove a couple Buick Lacrosses. I really liked the car but could not justify the extra cost.

My option B was the malibu. I bought a 2010 LTZ. Its ok.

My first option was a pontiac G8 GT. But I could not find one or order one the way I wanted it.

Word is that GM will re Badge the g8 as the next Caprice Classic so im waiting for that to happen.

I looked in to ordering a car from holden motors (the commador) but it too difficult.

The malibu is a good car for the money, but what pissed me off is the $300.00 you need to pay to change a dam headlight bulb. If chevy does the same to the Caprice Classic then off the foreign makes I go !!!

Make sure you check out the foreign makes carefully too because on my wifes 03 civic you can change the headlights without taking the bumper apart but it's a pita. however if you want to remove the whole headlamp assembly then you do have to take apart as much of that car as you do on the malibus.

Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion were in the running, but the incentives offered by GM, and the impressive car that the Malibu is, clinched the deal. I got $1500 in GM Visa card points, $1500 Loyalty discount, $4000 in carcostcanada.com discount. In addition I got $1600 trade-in on my 2002 Saturn L100 which considering the shape it was in was a reasonable offer. Oh, and 0% financing.

I actually wanted another Silverado. I was really opposed to buying a car. But after driving the Mailbu, I was so impressed that I traded it in for it. No real issues with the truck, just wanted a change of pace and better fuel economy.
