Seller replies
A: Hi, Our devices should work well on your car, including SWC function. But we are not sure about it. Hope you could have a test on it. If it doesn't work, we accept your refund... and we will give back your payment. (We afford shipping cost to you, you afford shipping cost back.) Enjoy your purchase on our Ebay Store. Happy New Year 2011. Best Regards,

------------------

Do you think it worth the try or not?
if this shall work fine with the chevy, then i guess it will be a great discovery for us!

I thought I read in another thread here that it would not work.

The unit is located in China, so if you don't get satisfaction you are taking a chance where you'll have few, if any, US laws to help.

If you send it back do they "clean it up" and sell it as "new, in box"? Is that what you're getting?

After you consider some of the risks it may still be worth it, especially if you can get it to work.

If your buying that because you think its factory, its not. Look around, for $600+ what your spending on that you can get a sick navigation system, I got my Pioneer Avic x920bt for $500 after rebate and it does everything (bluetooth audio/phone, video, iPod music/video control, built-in navi, rearview cam).

i know its not factory
it just looks like it
and i know its quality and performance is slightly less than others
the pioneer and all other respected models do not look OEM and i hate to say this coz it might make u less like ur unit but it doesnt probarly fit inside the 2-din space and even comes out a little from the dash !
ive seen many pics of those
coz as important as the quality is, as important the looks are too!

1. Quality wise, try a lot less since its a generic brand with no company support.
2. Why does it not fit properly?? No navigaton, even OEM, ever sit completely flush with the dash.
3. As for not looking OEM, people ask me all the time how I got a Malibu with navigation. Also with the option of custom illumination, it matches the interior lighting exactly unlike the navigation you found.

I guarantee that would look more OEM than half of the navigation units out there, down to the lettering on the buttons matching other lettering, because I searched left and right to find a unit that would blend as OEM.

Mali27,do you have any pictures of the dash and nav unit illuminated at night? I too want to select a nav unit that looks as close to factory as possible.

I personally don't see any issues with the edges, except those white lines making it hard to see them. What's the issue? Some say a picture is worth a thousand words, but this picture says nothing to me about any edges being weird.

Realize, also, that the picture you provided isn't a Malibu. The picture from Mali27 shows a proper installation in a Malibu that looks like it belongs there.

Of course, if you want to nitpick, any change you make causes the car to not be stock anymore, so if you get something that looks pretty but doesn't work, what good is that? I'd rather have something that has as good a presentation as Mali27's does, and has a much better chance of working like it's supposed to for as long as it should.

it is hard NOT to notice the difference between an OEM navi unit and a aftermarket one!
screen seems to simply POP OUT
go ahead give a visit to any store such a walmart or any of those stores back there in ur place (coz really we dont have them over here) and check examine those kits closely, its is very obvious that they pop out of the dash board a little! i dont know why though ive seen that in ALL navigation units for cars

in my opinion leaving a car with its oem disk player is better than installing a highly technological item which doesnt even look like it was mainly designed for the car! (have i mentioned the colours dont match too!?)
thx for ur reply...

No matter what system you get, you need a separate controller for steering wheel controls, no way around it.

I fail to see the horror. Programming the SWI-JACK or SWI-PS is pretty easy. So easy my eight year old sucessfully programmed a SWI-JACK in my Suburban. I did it pretty easily in my Aura, the cousin to the Malibu.

And to answer your original question, no the unit you posted will not work in your Malibu. The LAN system is different.

I see instructions to connect four wires.

If that's too much - take the car to a shop to get it done.

Or did I miss something?
