Has anyone upgraded their iPhone/iPod Touch to iOS 4.1?
If you haven't, don't!

I've confirmed on other boards that people are having problems with the upgrade. Bluetooth has been crackling on some users.
Worse for me, when I connect it via USB it will only play music for 30 seconds, then stops. If I unplug it and plug it back in it works... for another 30 seconds.

Anyone else run into this problem?

Update:
People experiencing this problem that have contacted Apple have so far gotten poor responses. "Apple does not guarantee thier products will work with third party hardware. We recommend you buy a new radio."
Which means when iOS4.2 comes out in November you may get to buy another new radio to work with your new iOS.

Those looking to downgrade to an older iOS may not have the option. All I've found so far is
"Note : You are eligible only if you saved your SHSH to Cydia Server before the release of iOS 4.1 via Cydia “make my life easier” button."

Depends on what version of iOS you are using. If it is 4.0.* keep it. If it is 4.1 consider yourself lucky.

ppp121h: I've looked into downgrading, and what I've found so far is that it isn't possible unless you've been backing up your phone with a jailbreak product. Haven't been able to look into it for the past week though.

Seems like people are having luck upgrading to 4.2 beta. But you have to be a developer to upgrade. $99 a year to be a developer. I haven't had any luck being able to do this without a dev account yet.

Well to pretty much close this thread

Apple development has show that 4.1 was buggy thus the fast release of 4.2

To install 4.2 ;) you have to be a registered developer WITH a MAC.

The UDID can be registered for $7 online many places do it, google is your friend.

4.2 can be found on any torrent site or just google 4.2 beta 3 + rapidshare or hotfile etc etc.

4.1 is currently jailbroken and their are patches that make it work for GM radios.

So if your interested in upgrading its only 7 dollars away, or you can jailbreak and void the warrenty ;) (i'm kidding of course) my iphone 4 has been jailbroken since day one the way it should be.

Refer to greenp0ison for jailbreak solutions.

I don't know if jailbreaking fixes the issue. But if you pay to get 4.2 and apple finds out they may cut you off. They like to control such things.

It's pretty much
Downgrade
Upgrade
Jailbreak?? (let me know if this fixes the issue)

Basically it allows you to do what you want with your iPhone without having to pay for apps and such. Takes about 30 sec to do, and you can get any app, from the $1 ones, to the $50 and higher ones for free. Just don't ever take it to an Apple store without restoring it back and backing up your stuff on iTunes.
