Wanted to stop in and say hi. Just signed up tonigh and spent a few hours going threw the how to write ups, DIY maintenance, and the other forums.

I have a 09 2LT 3.6L with just under 50,000 miles on it.

I'm sure I"ll have some questions sometime down the road but will keep reading for now.

Thanks for coming by and saying Hi!

If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask 'em, and if you're reading along and feel like commenting, jump in with both feet!

Kinda check the date of the last post, too. You're able to read all posts on here, but some haven't been active in a long time. That's not to say you can't add a comment or ask a new question, but you might want to consider starting a new thread. Or not. Just a heads up.

Most of us love our cars, but we also have the gripe or two. Just proves that an imperfect car can still have its supporters as well as detractors. By and large, though, it's a fantastic car. We hope you feel the same, but it's not required.

Hope to hear from you some more!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Ya I was reading threw some of the posts and noticed some of them were old already.

I actually found this forum googling how to reset the oil life. Had always just taken it to the dealer but had some free time this week so decided to do it myself this time. That and last time I took it in to the dealer the check engine light came on right after and had to go back. Took them an hour to figure out why and they said it was an O2 sensor and the oil change had nothing to do with the light coming on. Seems like to much of a coincidence to me that I get an oil change and the check engine light comes on and an O2 sensor is crap.

Over all it's a pretty decent car. Can be fun to drive.

Yeah, I don't believe in coincidence much. I'll bet ya they spilled oil on the O2 sensor, causing it to fail. Then they lied to you and GM about it being covered under warranty.

Hey Scott... I am fairly new to the forum and the Malibu myself. Welcome aboard! The "Bu" has been a great car to drive and IMO, the 3.6 has some nice pick-up to make it fun :)

I'm pretty sure that is exactly what happened and I wasn't to happy with them. And after I did this oil change and saw the O2 sensor right under the filter I figured they spilled oil or hit the sensor or wire. I don't believe in coincidence either and that's why I decided to do the changes myself from now on. I don't save any money but probably put better oil than the bulk and can make sure things are done right.

And ya the "bu" has some decent pick up to it. Woman drives this car most of the time and I have my ford diesel with a lot of mods runs 13's in the quarter, maybe after the warranty on the bu runs out I'll start playing with it.
