So I just bought a brand new 2010 Malibut LTZ.

I got Silver Ice Metallic outside and Ebanoy (BLACK?!?) inside.

As this is my first car I've dug around the forums here and else where a nice amount.

I managed to decided how I am going to clean my car and what products to use..

While I was diging around the modifications forum I found:
http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4592

which I may look into and heard some talk about

WeatherTech mats. In my Bu I have the protection package which has "premium all-weather" mats (which are carpet). Are the mats as all-weather as Chevy claims or should I be looking into something like WeatherTech and if so does anyone have any opinions.

Now this is where I ask really vague questions:
Is their any other items I should be looking into to keeping the car into shape?
Are their any simple/easy modifications I should do for the car?
Is their anything I should know about the car not in the manual?

Welcome to the site!

A lot of people seem to suggest tinting the windows. I have it and it's really nice!

Welcome!
I agree with DrivenDaily on the tint suggestion, it is always worth it especially if you want to keep the car nice inside and privacy is always a plus. Paint to match the chevy emblems is easy to do, just a little time consuming but worth it. Here's the how to that was written up. http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4351

I would go with the weathertech mats, they hold the water better and look a lot better as long as they are the molded ones. The GM mats are nice, but for the price I don't think they are worth it.

Keep the car waxed with a good paint sealant type of wax like megiurs NXT wax, and wax the wheels to make it easier to get brake dust off. Other than that, enjoy the new car!

I have no clue about cars and only work off of what I am told and can find..

From what I have read about tinting is that over time it can buble and crack. At that point it says that it is hard to fix.

I don't know if this is true or just old information which is no longer correct due to changes in the technology.

Dyed tint is the cheap stuff that does this and turns purple. Go to a reputable shop and get the lifetime warranty tint that covers these issues and you will be fine. I believe it is layered tint. My truck had it for 3 years with no issues and my first car was the same way. Both solar guard and LLumar tint is good tint.

First, congratulations for your new Bu and welcome to the forum.

I'm still very satisfied of my clear door edge. It really protect the paint on the edge. Yesterday, it was very windy and the wind slam my door on a brick wall and absolutely no damage on my door. I'm sure without it, the paint would be chipped.

For the protective mats, it's a really good investment specially if you live where there is snow, salt and mud. I bought the Husky instead of the weathertech because they cover more on the driver side beside the brake pedal where you can rest your left feet.

One more thing..

Some how on the protection package they didn't include a cargo net (saved money) but I realized after runing around today I really do need one.

Where would I look at getting a correct one for the Bu?

Good morning everyone.

So I was browsing WeatherTech's website.

Is it the DigitalFit or All-Weather mats everyone likes?

Also are these online order only or do some auto parts store sell them?

If you get good tint you will be fine. The tint on my other car is 10 years old and still looks new.

People typically get the Digital Fit, I did, a few others did, AND there was a group buy where many people did...

The only complaint anyone has had, and a few have it including me, is i/we need to buy a heat gun to reshape the mat corners as the lip bulges out a bit.

Regardless, even if there was no fix, they are great. They look dirty quick but you can pop them out and wash anytime you like. You cant beat that part.
