LED's

Hey guys I know that a number of you have some LED lights in your cars and I was wondering if the LED burn hotter or cooler than the standard bulbs. I had to get a new driver's side headlamp assembly and the first one I got the amber lens in the thing melted because the bulb got so hot. I have some 36 LED 3157s on the way and I am hoping that those will be the solution. Any input or ideas guys?

sweet thanks for the info Silver. I went and picked up the new assebly today to replace the one that melted and I'm waiting until the leds arrive to install it. although I might install it just to get the headlights aimed right so I don't have to worry about it later.
ok now here's a new question. Who has LEDS in their car, how do you like them and where did you get them. I got some cheaper ones off ebay and I'm not that impressed with the light output. I thought they would be much brighter considering that they are 28 LED bulbs but they really don't seem to be. Any help/info is appreciated.
How do they look? Do you have any pics?
No that's great they are really bright. Do you have any in your exterior lights?
ok Thanks would still like to hear from others also
well just an update I have now removed the LEDs I bought because as the saying goes "You get what you pay for" and I got what I paid for and that is cheap LEDs. I have already had one that got so warm that it melted the solder inside the housing and caused it to stop functioning in the Parking light feature. I have had other problems as well but I guess that's what I get for buying cheap LEDs from Hong Kong.
