Was checking out the bottom of my LTZ and noticed 2 mufflers  one under the pass compartment and the rear with the dual exits. was thinking of replacing the first muff with a straight pipe and leaving the rear only, any benefits to this mod???

Are you sure you're not looking at the cat?

ok so your seeing a resanator and/or a muffler and/or a cat,
it is very common to cut the cat off but it is a fedral offence, but places ( like Michigan) dont do tests so if yoru state dosent test go ahead. ( might void yoru warrenty though) if u cut the cat you will get a SES light

now for the resanator and/or the muffler it would make the car sound a little more throaty. do you have a 4 or 6 cyl? no matter what you arent going to get that V8 rumble. and performance wise it will probly net 1-3 Hp not very much (figure a $50 charge at an exaust shop) . gm tends to overbuild their exaust systems they tend to flow pretty well

I just noticed the other day that the GM Accessories site list a exhaust for the Pontiac G6 (our sister car)....they have a single exit system for the 2.4/3.5 and a dual exit system for the 3.6

Problem is that the MSRP is $800 & $900, respectively. And then it's a about $150 less for either system thru www.gmpartsdirect.com

All stainless steel too....I had a GMPP exhaust on my Ion Redline (was for the Cobalt/G5 though) and it sounded awesome....kind of like a Borla system.....so I know that it'll sound good, but that's a lot of $$$$
