Since Nov. 9 for the LTZ in the GM order guide, Bose premium speakers system (UQA), Rear power center (KV1) and rear window shade (DE1) are now standard in the LTZ model.

UQA is available only in the 2LT and KV1+DE1 are available in both 1LT and 2LT.

The only options for the LTZ are V6, sunroof and block heater.

I don't know if the MSRP went up for the LTZ and how much is the UQA option for the 2LT.

Bose speakers? Damn, wish I had those. I'm adding a powered sub soon, those would have been nice. I wonder if they are a direct swap?
Stay away from Bose, there is much better quality stuff out there for half the price you'd pay for a Bose system.

In the 2LT, the premium speaker option is code UQ3. It is a $500 ($440 invoice). I just took delivery of my Malibu LTZ & I don't have the rear power center or shade. That was an option. I also didn't get the sunroof. I don't think they are a good value. It's almost a grand for them & it's probably got a couple of hundred dollars worth of parts in it. I did get the block heater (K05). Since I did order my car, it was an inexpensive option that would come in handy every now & then. Cheaper than a jump or tow if used properly. If you can do without certain cosmetic touches & conviences, then order a 2LT the way you want it. In the end I think you'll save about a grand over the LTZ. When it comes down to it, the 2LT can be equipped almost as well as the LTZ. I thought about doing that as well, but I wanted real leather in the ebony/brick color. I used the Yahoo Auto section when I looked up that option code. It's been fairly accurate thus far. Cheers! :D

A friend ordered a 2010 LTZ and it was not clear if the Bose system was available at the time of the order. His car came in last week and had the Bose.

It's just made my GM, it used to be called "Monsoon". I think it sounds alright, but I usually upgrade my car stereo. Upgrading this one is next on the list. First up, a powered sub to help out with the lack of low end bass.

I just bought an LTZ White Diamond 2 weeks ago and I do not have the bose 8 speaker w/subwoofer. The sticker did say premium sound but no Bose or woofers and the Radio is a single CD. I just pulled the liner in the trunk to see if the speakers had a name on them and no. My last chevy 06' Trailblazer had the bose and the radio said it when you turned it on. If anyone knows where the bose is and the socalled subs are in the LTZ let me know.

The Bose Upgrade offered in 2010 is the same price as the premium sound system offered in 2009 and prior - $500 for both.

I have the Bose Upgrade in the LT2 - I thought it was a great value. For my needs, it sounds great. A lot of clarity with good bass. I don't blast a radio, that's not how you judge the quality. The real way to see if a radio has good sound quality is to turn the volume down. The sound quality is just as good at low volume levels.

This is exactly what I did. I got an LT2 with extras that I wanted such as Bose, Red Jewel Tintcoat, etc. And the LT2 actually has the same cosmetic touches in the interior that the LTZ has such as leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and most importantly, the wood trim that runs along the dash and doors. That really gives the interior a very luxurious look.

According to the brochure, the seats are real leather on the LT2. But, they are leather inserts. The portion where you sit is suede and the outer portion of the seat is leather. The suede is very comfortable and it doesn't get super hot in the warmer weather. And the suede smells really nice. I got the ebony color as well. I've had full leather seats on my previous car, so this was a nice change.

If you have Ultralux seats then you don't have leather in them. The smooth material along the outer surfaces is vinyl (high-grade yes, but not leather), and the "suede" center section is suede-like.

Only the LTZ gets real leather seating surfaces.

Aside from that, I agree that the interior is bang on fantastic! One of the things I still like about it is not being able to see any fasteners. The designers really paid attention to making it all look seamless, and they succeeded. I like the gauges and how they're laid out. I like rectangles with rounded corners better than circles, but for a circular theme it's really nice.

Yup, the LT2 does not have real leather, or real suede like we have discussed 50 times....

I don't understand. The Malibu Brochure and Website compare features on different models and there's an item that says "Leather Appointed Seats" and it says standard for the LT2 and LTZ. And for the Suede, it doesn't say simulated suede. They describe it as "Sheer Suede Seats". So I don't know what to believe.

My previous car was a Cadillac CTS and they offered 2 different types of seats - Leatherette and real Leather. They clearly differentiated between the two. They didn't call the Leatherette Seats Leather. That's what I don't understand about the LT2. If if was not real leather, wouldn't they call it vinyl or leatherette such as with the CTS?

Believe me, neither of it is real. You can tell the leather is not real by touching and smelling it. Plus as Driven said it has fabric underneath it. And be happy the suede is not real, the fake stuff is MUCH more durable.

So why does the Chevy Website list Leather Appointed Seats as being standard for the LT2? Also, when I go in the car, it has the smell of real leather.
See the attached link and click on the "Interior" Tab. Navigate to where it says "Leather Appointed Seats".

They can say what they want, it is common knowledge that it is not real. They say the trim is "aluminum" too, it is painted plastic. They use the same material on other cars in the line up as well. We have made it pretty clear that it is what it is. Don't see what the big deal is, move on.

Richard, take a look on that site again. The leather-appointed seats are on the LTZ, which is what all of our posts have been saying. Leather-appointed simply means that the seating surfaces are leather and the rest of the cover (bolsters, etc.) are something else.

It says the 2LT gets the Ultralux. I don't find a descripton on that page, but since I have them I can repeat what I said above - they're vinyl.

I'm ok with them being vinyl in my car. Do you feel that you sold a fake bill of goods?
