Got a price quote today for a Magnaflow muffler and tip, installed for under $300. And I was curious to what you guys think of Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster. Anybody have exhaust mods to show?

If your simply asking what brand preference is then I would have to go with Magnaflow. I was a Flowmaster guy for years but the drone got to be very annoying on my vehicles so now I prefer the low drone and WOT rumble from the Magnaflow.

brand wise i like flowmaster. but the sound you get depends on your motor whether its a 6 or a 4 cylinder. personally i think flowmasters shine with a v8.

Yeah now I'm kinda leaning towards just getting a chrome tip. Cause I got a v6, and I don't want my car to sound like it's got balls, when it doesn't.

a 6 will sound better than a little 4 banger but because its not a V8 there's a fine line, in my eyes, between a nice sounding exhaust or just another ricer. if i were you i'd look up video/sound clips of V6 cars with different muffler brands so you have a general idea of what sound your going to get out of what muffler. so that way you dont get disappointed with the sound because some random magnaflow or flowmaster got welded on. it'll take more time but i think you'll be much happier that way. good luck hologram hope this helps!

I had a magnaflow super turbo on my 03 Impala LS with a 3.8. Sounded nice good lower not alot of rasp. I also had the resonator removed. If I were to do it over again i would leave the resonator in. I head the flowmaster 40 series on a Lumina LTZ with a 3.1 and it was just rasp and loud.
If it helps my Impala also had a K&N intake

Most likely not gonna do it. That's $300 I can put toward something else. I might just get a chrome tip though.

You should just straight pipe it. Its really not that loud, and a shop can fab it up for less than $100, plus then you can use your stock tips.

Flowmasters are better for V8s, but Magnaflow give a better sound for 4 bangers and V6s.

i slaped a magnaflow glass pack on the end of my 06 V-6 for about $50 with a tip and hangers factored in, but it doesnt make alot of difference becase of the huge resonator thats still there, but it does give it alittle deeper tone at idle yet it still sounds stock just rolling down the road, however when i get on it the roar is definatly better than stock ever was. ill try to get some pics and a video

Incorrect. Brand has nothing to do with it. Design, flow and what particular car it is going on does.

so you know what a magnaflow glass pack sounds like on a 3.5 from the driver's seat with the window cracked and all the way up (the wind noise makes it hard to hear twards the end of the opened window one though)

I totally agree. V8's sound a bit better. But I want that turboed 4cyl sound. The one that sounds WICKED, like on YouTube.
