I had the right front wheel hub replaced last week at 86,000 miles under warranty. No drama the dealership found the issue and called and said it's covered.

86,000 miles and still running great.

It is always nice to hear a happy dealer/warranty story. However, thought the basic warranty was for 3 years/36,000 miles, except for the 100,000 mile drive train warranty. Where and how is the wheel hub covered? TSB, or recall issue? Just curious for future reference. TIA

Front hub would be part of the drivetrain (FWD), wouldn't it?

That was my thinking too....perhaps some service writers here can give us the "straight scoop".

Found this on the GM warranty site. Guess the front hubs are considered driveline components.

This extended coverage protects you in the event of problems with major driveline components, including the engine, transmission, transfer case, and axles.

I had a discussion with scott37300 over this issue in thread http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5795. It looks like the powertrain warranty did cover the bearing/hub assemblies on the 2008-2009 Malibu.

The dealership told me that it basically covers everything from the engine to the lug nuts with the exception of brakes and tires.

I believe GM changed it for 07' and up GM vehicles to where the wheel bearing were covered under the powertrain warranty. It is nice since wheels bearings can be pricey even without labor.
