I was disappointed to see that the red jewel Malibu on display at the Test Track ride at Epcot (sponsored by GM and featuring a GM showroom) was an LS or LT rather than an LTZ. Why wouldn't they display the highest-end trim which has larger wheels, better-looking hubcaps, chrome door handles, fog lamps, silver grille, etc? This seems like a poor decision. Thousands of people walk by the car every day -- prime space. GM should display its best product.

I agree, however, if you think about it - who is going to Disney World? Families, and most families would probably just get the LT model. Some may get the LTZ, but many of them would probably opt for the lower priced LT. Just my 2 cents.

IMO the point is to show people what an average priced vehicle can do. Once they are convinced or shown its potential then they can go for the base model, LT, or the luxurious LTZ if they decide it is in their price range. If you were to show me what a $34K car can do I would be impressed, but if a $26K car can do the same than I would really be impressed and it would be more obtainable for the average consumer.

I remember research showed that more people opt for the highest-end LTZ trim on the Malibu than on other comparable mid-sized cars. You get so much more for the extra money. It can't possibly cost GM more to park an LTZ there and it's more than made up for by having the nicest-looking model there on the floor. That's what they do at the dealers, so why not at an attraction that presumably they are paying a lot of money to sponsor? The whole thrust of the Malibu is that you can get luxury features and a sophisticated look for perhaps $10,000 less than comparable "luxury" brands. They should be showing off the top trim, just like they do when you visit the website or see a TV commercial. If someone comes into a dealer and is looking for a budget version, they can see that too. The price is not listed at Disney, as far as I could tell. They simply had the models on display. Entice people with the nicest looking eye candy and then convince them of the value of a lower model if necessary.
