Was wondering if anyone has found a way to get the additional screens in the DIC that are available when running automatic mode for the transmission? One item I track is gas milage which does not display when the transmission is in manual mode. I can only see the A and B miles traveled with external temperature in this setting. Looked thru the manual and it does not indicate anything. Dealer was no help - "I guess that is the way it is" was the only answer I got.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

When the trans is in M you get just that - M plus the gear number and either the A or B trip meter.

In any other gear selection you get the whole shebang.

I was curious if anyone elses temp reading takes forever to update? Sometimes I can drive around for 10-15 minutes before it changes when it obviously 15-20 degrees warmer outside than what it says!

I just happen to check that this morning leaving the garage. Wanted to see how warm the garage was and it was at 63. I watched it drop to 32, probably within 10 minutes or 8 miles up the road.

I had my '09 serviced once on a day that was above 60, but the temp said 39 (or around there, can't remember). The service writer told me it takes 10 miles before it resets and then will start to register. Right at 10 miles it started working. This was after a service.

Not sure if it requires 10 miles in normal use but I've seen mine on the '09 as well as this '11 act sluggishly at times. Not sure of the reason, but it makes me wonder if the rest of the sensors work at the same speed. I guess I need to call the cable company and get a faster network connection! ;)

That's the outside temp. There are two inside sensors.

I noticed this in the winter time. It would stay at a given temperature for a long time, and then it would update to the correct temperature. I was wondering if the sensor was frozen. But there does seem to be a delay in the amount of time it takes to update.

I read someplace that the algorithm used for this display uses three pieces of information: outside air temperature, vehicle speed and the amount of time the engine has been running or been turned off.

This is being done to avoid the heat being radiated by the engine and radiator from being picked up by the sensor causing a high temperature reading to be displayed.

I read in an old post by Lee, that the car has to be parked for three hours or more in order for the thermometer to update right away. Otherwise you need to drive over 50 MPH before the thermometer will start to update.
So when you pull out of the garage in the morning, it will update right away, but if you stop somewhere for an hour or two it will not update untill you hit 50 MPH.

Milo,

Thanks for taking the time to research this on the site. I never knew that is how it works!;)
