I broke the passenger side mirror for our Chevy malibu 2018.

The painted part (mirror cover?) is not damaged.

If I buy a replacement part that is from a car with a different paint color, is it possible to use the mirror cover I currently have? Or are these is the mirror cover not able to be reconnected to a new mirror base?

Thank you so much in advance!

Based on my experience with my 2009 (different year and Generation), those covers should be removable.

Yes. Once you remove the broken side view mirror, use that one to practice removing the glass/mirror panel, as you will need to do that in order to get the cover off. YouTube is your friend for jobs like this:

The last video there shows what has to be done to the frame in order to remove the cover. Hopefully you have a better set of tools than whomever made that last video!

Thank you so much! I wasn’t sure of the search terms to use to find what I needed on YouTube- this was very helpful!
