here some updated pics
i dont do much to it,,since its her car

tinted the tails with the layer of film you apply like tint
i also am gonna do a 35% or so film over the headlights( i have HID's installed already)i wanted to go light on the headlights since i have had the dark smoke on a past BMW and it just took too much away from light output

iv already had all emblems off,,and its been tinted for a while
we just installed some new tires
stock firestones lasted till 40400 miles,,lol,,i guess thats good

i trimed the front plate mount,,and i d like to take it off totally,,but in MO its the law and id rather her not take the chance

gonna prob look into some 20's as long as she can keep them away from the curb,,and im sure along w that goes a nice drop with springs

gonna pron do the chrome door handle overlays, and be done adding stuff

so im sure ill have some new pics sometime,,if it were my car all my stuff would be done asap,,but since its hers she dont care too much,so its basicly me just lookin into stuff here and there

lol yeah

trusty old ebay for the tail and headlight tint
the headlight tint i bought from them wasnt cut to the full size and i couldnt stretch it far enough to fit,,so im seeing if they have another set,,or will just cut me a big piece

the tail tint is 20% i think,,and the headlight film i bought was 35%

i just tinted the rear corner lights last nite with some left over 35% so we will see what that looks like in the day,i may wanna go with the dark smoke on those too

the stuff goes on well,,but i just feel those headlights r gonna b rough, gonna have too slowly shrink it as to not get any issues

So I'm assuming you tinted the tail lights your self? Have you ever done that before and was it difficult? Also, you did not need to remove them from car at all since they were pre-cut did you?

The kit you bought on ebay can also be purchased here http://www.rvinyl.com/tail-light-tint-Chevrolet-Malibu-2008.htm along with the headlights and all that.

When I got priced on this the guy at the tint shop said he would do it at about $75 a light and I have no idea about the side markers pribably about $20-$25 dollars per. So I'm thinking instead of spending the $200 on all of those just buy this kit and take it to Ziebart. Unless of course you don't think even taking it there is necessary??

i have done it on a couple cars before

it is basicly u takin a small card, with a shirt over to flattin the film down,,i have some small plastic things i have had from tint kits prior

u spray the light first with a soap and water,,,,then apply the film,,then spray the film so the card/shirt slide freely, and dont scratch the tint

then work from inside out,,,,i use a hair drier to heat it up since thats shrinks the film a lil,,and helps sticks to the light itself,,and it really helps shrink it to curves of the light

i dont think its too bad,,u just have to be carful,,it will crease if your too quick to flattin it down

mine has a couple spots near the edge where very close u can tell its a film,,but i had never done a light with these bigger curves on the edge

this is why i feel the healight is gonna b a bitch,,its a flat sheet of film,,and the light is so oddly shaped
im still gonna buy it,,but like i said,,i bought the headlight kit and it wasnt fully cut to the headlight,,so u may ask them before you buy that

i just sent them a ? about seein if they can cut me a bigger square piece so i can trim it myself
i will go with their lighter film in the headlight since it will take some light output away,
i had 20% film on my BMW headlights and i had to switch to 35% cuz i just make it too dark even for HID's

u will have the trim the edge itself,,but just a flat blade and patience its easy

u will have some bubbles in it,,but after a couple weeks, its air,or water/soap,,it will all go away

the film basicly applies like tint,,so call your local tint shop and im sure they have done it,,or may even sell it
i know my tint guy who does all my cars will install it,,if people already buy the kit,,and they are pros, soo im sure it would turn out better then u or I

here my BMW i did a bit ago

Be very careful about what you do your tail lights and headlamps in regards to the film. many states and provinces do not alow you to change the color of the headlamp, tail lamps or the refective properties of the rear lenses. I am a traffic collison investigator and have seen bad things in court from these types of mods. Even if your are rear ended and its not your fault. instead of the insurance company paying out 100 % they may be able to reduce the liability by arguing that "my client" was unable to see the rear of your car in due time to stop because you restricted the vision level from the stock lamp. same on the headlights if you hit a deer or something they will be able to argue that you restricted the frontal distance and therby reduced your reaction time and the ability to percieve a hazard. Insurance companys will do anything to reduce a claim from 100% to a lower amount. I see it in traffic court and civil court all the time. It does look good I admit but you may be taking your street legal car to a show car only. you may never get stopped or charged for the mods if they are illegal where you live but it can come back to bite you in the ass should you ever be in a collision.

yeah..thats why all these tints and things will say off road use only
thanks for the comments

i may get her car tomorrow and pull off the side moldings, lol
im sure it being not to old of a car the 3m stuff behind it should come off pretty easy like the emblems

i just debadged my 92 buicks emblems tonite,,soo that took a little longer since it had all the crap stuck behind the emblems from years past, lol

The light output on those night shots is great. Thinking about trying that stuff out now.

So about those moldings........the holes are alignment holes. Some people have removed the molding to find none, I guess it depends on the year or build date of the car whether it has them or not.

As far as I know, all 2008-up have the alignment holes on the bowties.

I'm not sure if this is still true, but aren't all of the lowering kits out for 08+ Malibus for LTZ models only??

I think if you use them on a LT or LS, the front end will sit a little lower than expected...

If you find any, please share the brand and some pictures. I'd love to lower my LT
