I have a 2009 Malibu and i love the car. My key fob is broken and i use the keys for now to get in on the driver door.

The other day I went to shut the car off and the engine wouldnt turn off after I pulled the keys from the ignition. The theft detterant system light alluminated(The yellow car w/ the lock thru the window). I had to pull the fuel pump relay in order to shut it off. It doesnt happen all the time time but has happened twice in the last 5 days. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Has this problem happen to you?

Sounds like an ignition problem. There should be codes, but it won't be a check engine light, the codes will most likely be stored in the body control module. I have come across a few vehicles that have done this, but for some reason I can't remember exactly what fixed it. I would take it to a dealer to get it fixed.

As for the key fob it is common for the terminals for the battery contacts to break. The solder breaks off of the circuit board and the contacts come off.

The theft icon being on is probably because it's running with the key out of the ignition. The ignition switch or the electrical center under the hood could be the problem. I know you killed it by pulling the relay, but is there still battery power on?

Chevyguy, do you work at a dealership?

Helps to know who's in the crew with me.
Ah, ok I was just curious. So, I am assuming you are a service manager for a dealer. It's nice to have every aspect covered on a forum from working on the car, what is covered for warranty, and even customer service.
