My driver's side Front strut is leaking; So i will need to put in new struts. I cant seem to find much of a selection when it comes to aftermarket.
I don't really like Monroe or KYB. Are there any other options? Take off struts from lower mileage cars would work too. I don't have a spring compressor either so a loaded srtut would be ideal.

Thanks

If you wanna keep costs down get a used one from a low-mileage car. Why don't you like Monroe or KYB?
I've never liked Monroe, just don't like the quality. KYB i guess its just a preference thing. They were always the bottom of the barrel when i was looking at struts for my Mustang. Obviously i had more choices there (i ended up going with Koni).

If i had to choose though i guess id have to go with KYB. I haven't been able to find a loaded one. If i cant ill just compress the spring. MacPherson are a hell of a lot easier and safer than doing the modified MacPherson on my Mustang.

They appear to be in stock when I search for them. $98 for a quck strut assembly with free delivery and you can find online coupons for another $5 off. Perhaps when you go to actually order them, they tell you they are sold out?

Does your front suspension still hiss when you hit bumps? Like going into a parking lot or driveway. And what did you end up going with?
Not sure if my problem is the same, but I get a different sound from my front suspension, especially when first driving the car in the morning, and when everything's cool/cold....and more from the right front than the left. It's a loud squeak, rather than a hiss, and occurs with every small bump or dip in the road. I had a similar problem years ago with a Mercury Marquis, where the squeak became so loud it turned heads half a block ahead. At that time, Ford told me it was an expensive fix, so I lived with it a few more weeks, then sold the car.
Since my '03 Malibu has only 110,000 km, (68,500 miles), I'd sure like to know what my problem is.
