Have had my 2005 4cyl Malibu for 2 1/2 years. Love the car except for the binding noise when turning the steering wheel and the remote start just quit working.

Hi Dan5667 I too am from CNY. And I have a remote strat issue with a 05 malibu. Did you ever get it looked at to fix it? I have been trying to fix mine and have been chasing a bunch of things. They tell me my hood ajar sensor and shifter sensor are not sensing they are either closed or in park. I was hoping someone could help me with some wiring diagrams.

I took it to a dealer. They changed the hood latch switch and have not had a problem after that. Service manager said it is a well known problem with the Malibu. Charged me $75 for the switch. $100 for labor and it took them about 25 minutes to fix it.

Thanks for the info Dan5667, that is inline with the quote they gave me except they said the shifter has a problem as well and they want another $400 to fix that. Someone in another spot on this forum gave me a link to a place that sells the wiring diagram for the car. That might help me pin down the problem more. Thanks again.
