Hey Guys. Long time GM guy here. Grew up driving camaros, trans ams, grand prixs, silverados and now a GTO. My father always had vettes and monte carlos

anyway, I recently got married and the wife drives an 03 Beetle. We decided a year ago that we wanted to get her a new car. Would have loved a CTS but thats just too much money. She loves the Malibu as well, so we have decided to get one, but it has to have leather.

anyway I am wondering if you guys think a dealer would go for this.

a leftover 2010 2LT. MSRP is $25,175 inflated to $27,605 with red jewel tintcoat paint, some floor mat package and a sunroof. I used to be in car sales and I know how that works, so I am going to start at 25,175

25,175
-3,000 GM Rebate (thats money that the factory gives to the dealer, so coming off that first 3,000 doesn't cut into dealer profits)
-1,000 supplier discount from work
-3,900 trade in (KBB says trade in value of her car in fair condition is 4,900. she has minor front bumper damage other than that car is mint, I am willing to take 3900)

so we are at $17,275 without the dealer really coming off the price at all.

since its a leftover 10 and they need to make room for the '11's and dealers always haggle a bit, there is no way ill pay 17,275.

So I am going to tell them at this point I want to be at 15,275 OTD.

I am going to throw this similiar offer to about 4 different local dealers. Ill post up the results.

anyone think I can pull it off?

anyone else get any crazy deals this time of year on leftover 10's?

You didn't say when you "used to be in car sales" and which brand but things are a little different now. If you are eligible for the GM Supplier Discount program, you get a set preferred pricing on each vehicle rather than $1k off the MSRP ($27,605 in this case and not the base price before options). Some dealers may give you preferred pricing without you having to produce a certificate. Anything beyond that is a lot of haggling but, let me just say, they will not sell you a car at a loss. They aren't all that helpless with the remaining 2010s this early.
