Whats going on? I figured I might as well post up an intro thread on the forum. my name's omar and acquired a 6th gen 2006 Malibu LS with the 2.2L Ecotec. When comparing this to my bravada (trailblazer's cousin), this thing is awesome. The maintenance on it is nothing compared to what i have to deal with on the bravada. Trans/oil/coolant fluids is the only thing you have to deal with on these things!! I have 7 fluids that need to be maintained on the SUV. And i'm definitely loving the fuel economy on this. When we got it, i was averaging ~24 MPG city. Swapped in new AC Delco Iridiums along with a transmission fluid change and oil change with synthetic (Mobil 1 FTW!!!), and it went up to about 28-30 MPG. On my trip to wisconsin, i averaged at a good 40 MPG :). Anyways, I look forward to being on the forum and helping others out while trying to find ways to make this really basic car look good lol

Welcome to CMF, and congrats on the "new" car! I'll bet that mileage really helps out, too, eh?

Welcome to CMF. I would check your calculations though, 40 mpg's seems high to me.
Thanks for the welcomes!

40 MPG seemed high to me as well, but considering it was only me in the car and nothing else, driving all highway with a lot of semi trucks, and constant decreasing elevation, i deemed it plausible. Hey, it's a hell of a lot better than getting 15 mpg in an SUV lol

Now that's the first time I've ever heard that version of "downhill with a tailwind"! ;)

Those were perfect conditions for sure. Did you drive the same return trip yet? If not, do you ever expect to?
