Hello! Seems I have been thrown at the girlfriend's '05 Malibu to solve a few issues the car is having. So I just wanted to pop in here and give a quick hello. In case you are wondering (as I am sure you are ;) ) the issues the car has are the following:

Blinkers intermittently work - I've read so far that a hazard switch could be to blame; somewhat common from what I hear.

A/C controls itself on/off - I've also found on the forum that this could be the actual computer board that is causing a short of sorts. Also somewhat common from what I hear.

Aside from that, it's a great little car. 4cyl so I guess it has a bit more life expectancy then the v6 counterparts. Something to do with the coolant i've heard. Not sure but glad the car has treated her well thus far. I've done all small maintenance to the car since i've been with her. Pads, resurfacing rotors, oil etc. Looks like the passenger axle seal is starting to go as well. But to be honest i've been putting off the work she needs until now. Too busy on my own little projects! LOL bad boyfriend, I know.

Anyway! lol, Just wanted to say hey. And if you have some info, be sure to throw it my way. I'm always eager to make my life a little easier! Cheers!

Welcome to the forum.:) The "issues" you mentioned, is the vehicle a Malibu (6th generation) or Classic (basically 5th generation Malibu with 2.2L)? The hazard switch on the 2005 Malibu doesn't double as the flasher. Also, the HVAC control module problem is more known for the earlier generation Malibu. Anyway, post individual problems in the Problems/Service Issues/Troubleshooting (Generations 5 & 6) section if you could use our collective help.

It does say "Classic" on the back so I suppose it is indeed the 5th gen. So you're saying that the hazard switch might not be the cause of the blinker malfunction? Hm I will post in the designated area then.

Thanks for the welcome :)

If it says Classic, it's basically a 2003 Malibu with the 2.2L engine. Even the throttle cable and brake switch were carried over. Thus, your initial diagnosis is indeed valid. BTW, you may want to update the model name in User CP so you don't get hassled by those like yours truly.:D
