Just want to say hi first and just get some help here. Let me start by saying that I have a 2009 Dodge Ram Sport witch I love but the $600.00 note is now killing me because of todays times so I'm looking at trading it in for a LT2 Malibu.
Here is my problem I am like $2800 upside down on my trade after several beatings to the dealer, they first gave me $23000 and now there up to $25000 for my truck, there only giving me the $3000 rebate because its a 2010 plus my intrest is 4.99 not bad. I am so on the fence here abought getting a car, I have had trucks for the past 10 years now and as I type this I'm so confused. The LT2 I'm looking at has the Black leather like interior and the Diamond white paint witch I just love anyways please give me your thoughts on the car oh it does have the 18" rims, I wish it had the LTZ rims oh well anyways your thoughts please, thanks.

Welcome to the site. It is hard to say, I mean most of us love our Malibus (I will never call it a "Bu", that is beyond stupid to me).

But it is vastly different then you Ram. What is you primary use for it? Then maybe we can help you decide better.

Go rent a Malibu. Sometimes a dealer will let you borrow one for a day if they think you are serious about buying. Switching from a truck to a medium size car is going to be tough.

How is this any different than calling a Corvette a "vette"???
Vette still sounds cool, has been called that for decades and even GM calls it that at times. A Malibu was never called that back in the day, and you will never hear GM call it that. Bu sounds like something the tuner crowd would say. If someone wants to call it a Bu, go ahead. You will never hear me say that. On LS1tech people started to call a Camaro a Maro. The admins hated it so much (and I agree) that when you typed the word Maro in, when your post showed up it would automatically change it. ;)

Wow... a Ram to a Malibu is quite the jump. If you are looking for quiet smooth A-B transport then Malibu is a good choice, but I guarantee you are going to miss the capabilities of your truck. Cars are nice, but they are so lacking in the cargo capacity department.

Have you considered a smaller truck? The Colorado is cheaper and very capable.

well from my own personal experience I switched from an S-10 to the malibu mostly because I couldn't afford to have the 5 speed rebuilt and the malibu wasn't really what i was looking for but I have been more and more impressed with it the more miles that I have put on it. So far the only money I have had to put into the car is 100 bucks for my deductible to have the dealership replace the front main seal under my extended warranty and I have put 30k on it since I bought it a year and a half ago. Mine has the V6 and I am completely satisfied with the power and it still gets 30+ MPG on the freeway which is a far cry from the 17 I was getting in the S10 after it had the motor rebuilt. Ultimately the decision is yours but I agree if you are seriously considering a Malibu then rent one or see if the dealership will let you take one for a day and see just how nice these cars are.

C&D is such a joke.

I canceled my subscription b/c if there was a comparison article with a Honda or a BMW it wasn't even worth reading... could tell you the outcome from just reading the list of cars. Those guys are so far up Honda's and BMW's rear ends they can't see the light of day.

I used to write them letters all the time asking them to do a test S2000 vs Z4... just to watch it be a tie.

While they are Honda and BMW leg humpers for sure. I got to give BMW credit. I have a few friends and family with them and they are very nice cars. Not a huge fan of the sedans, but the new 3 series and 135i coupes are awesome cars and very well engineered and made. I can't say that about my Malibu.

Yes.... yes, it is!

Just traded in my F-150 Extended Cab for a '10 LTZ, though I have been driving the LTZ for seven months before I bought it.

I'm just lazy sometimes, and only refer to it as a Bu here on the forum. To call it stupid is a bit harsh IMO.

Well I did the trade tonight so far so good but what it really came down to it was the savings all around from the $600.00 note gas and insurance oh I did have a 2009 base malibu for a rental for like a week and I really was happy with it. After I had that car for a week I told myself if I ever had to buy a car I would buy a Malibu so I did.
