I am sorry if this question has been asked before, I am having trouble finding the information that I am looking for on the forums so maybe someone can help me out.

I have a 2010 LT1 and I really want to replace the cloth seats with some leather ones. I found a 2009 Malibu LT2 at a junk yard after being totaled and would be able to buy the seats for a couple hundred dollars if I want them. My question is can I take the seats out of that 2009 LT2 and put them in my 2010 LT1? Along with that question the LT2 Leather seats are both heated and the drivers side is a power seat, are the connections for those accessories underneath the seats I have even though my car is an LT1? Thank you for any help you can give me and I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Welcome to the forum.

The seats will bolt in directly as a replacement. As for the electrical you'll probably need to do a little of your own. What's nice is the heat module for each seat is with the seat and not elsewhere. The switch is on the seat itself. You'd be wise to get the connector in the wrecked 'Bu by cutting it out of the car. You're about 6 or 7 hours from here. If you need some help we can make arrangements for me to show up. Gas, meals, parts. As cheap as we can make it for you, and I solder all of my connections and use heat shrink. Take a look at one or more of my How-To links to see.

Thank you for your response and that makes my choice really easy. I am hoping to pick up the seats this weekend. In terms of cutting the connector off in the wrecked car how much wire should I be making sure to take with it?

Also the rear seat should just clip in the way the current cloth one does, correct?

The rear seat bottom should just drop into snap-type connectors. The seat back is bolted at the bottom.

As for wire, since the "owner" of the wrecked car isn't waiting on it, take as much time as you can and trace as many wires as far back as you can. The more wire you get the easier it'll be when you wire them into your car. Pay attention to the schematic and junction locations as that may help you by making it possible to cut fewer wires. If you can manage to get the large connector at the BCM and as much wire with it as possible you might be able to get the feed wire for the seats and the all-important connector(s). Pay attention to how it comes apart so you can learn on the donor car and save yours from damage.

Once you're all done and they work you're gonna love your 'Bu all the more! Post up some pics when you're done. And as always, ask all the questions you want. Someone should be able to help!

I did the same upgrade on my wifes malibu. She had a lt1 with cloth seats and driver power seat. We bought a set of leather seats out of lt2 malibu and all works great.. All was plug and play... Plug them in and see what happens. Worse case you have to do some wiring..

If you can get your seats successfully installed & hooked up, you'll appreciate all of their adjustments - I find my seats are more comfortable than the cloth.

And you'll definitely appreciate the heated seats. I never owned a car with them before, and didn't even know the car had them until I accidently turned it on last summer (yeow). They sure are nice to have in the winter!
