hey everyone, just joined the forums, had my malibu for about six months and am looking at some simple modifications to personalize and make it more "mine". anyways just makin an intro, my car is the 2010 LT2/platinum, graphite black. and i guess my biggest question and mod i'm thinking of is if it makes sense to get a dark window tint on an already dark black car.

Welcome to the site!

My '09 was black granite metallic with all-black interior. I had 20% on the rears and back, and 35% on the fronts. Looked good and was a pleasure to drive.

I now have 20% all around. I like tint! These are the first two cars I've ever tinted and I expect I'll have it on every car from now on.

Check out all the topics and you'll get some ideas you may like for your mods. Keep on comin' back, too, and you're bound to see more.

Check out getting a sig pic into your sig. It'll personalize your posts and let us know what you have whenever you ask questions.

hey thanks for the feedback, yeah this would be the first car i would tint and have never driven a car with them, one concern would be how difficult it becomes to backup at night with a 20% rear tint cause i imagine it would be pretty dark

It's true that it's darker but I haven't had any issues at all. Interestingly, though, on my '09 I installed a talking backup kit, and I have yet to install it on the '11. (Yep, I removed it before trading it in.) With the window being so small it doesn't make it easy to use for backing up. For many years I've used my outside mirrors to do all my backing. The inside mirror continues to serve as a good reference for what is directly behind me, but a lot of my backing is out of parking spaces, which means I'm turning at the same time. Using the side mirrors lets me see what I would be hard pressed to see by turning my whole body, so I use the mirrors and back slowly.

I can only say that once I got my first tint done 2 years ago I've haven't looked back. (Sorry about the pun! Kinda :))

+1 to what DrivenDaily said except that I back into my parking spot instead.

At night, when I see cars coming up behind me in traffic, I can't even make out what type of car it is due to the small rear window size and my 20% tint. I just see their headlights.

Welcome to the site, Make sure you first check with your local laws before you throw any tint on the windows. Each State here in the US. has their own laws of what % tint you can or can’t put on! Since you are from Canada it might be totally different laws concerning tinted windows?

Just a friendly suggestion! :)
