Changing the ECU is not a simple task. A dealer level bi directional scan tool is usually required to match it to the car's other systems. I doubt the problem is a bad ECU. Unfortunately the diagnostic skills and equipment required to trouble shoot your problem further may be beyond the scope of this forum. Perhaps you can find a mobile mechanic with the necessary abilites but I think that is going to be tough.

Don't know what an ignition control module is. As far as I know, the ECU is what triggers the ignition coils and it works with the BCM is some respects.
I think some of the older 2.2 had a separate ignition module but around 2006 or 2007 it was integrated into the ECM like @Drunken Elvis wrote.
