I just bought a used 2009 Malibu 1LT (2.4L 4 Cyl) with ~36,000 miles. Is it normal to hear a winding noise a couple seconds after starting the car? The noise occurs for only a second or two and then goes away. It sounds somewhat like an antenna motor bring down a car radio antenna (only this car has no visible antenna). The noise is coming from the engine compartment. Any advice would be appreciated.

The A/C or defogger is on.

I know the owners manual states something about the stability control making noise when you first turn on the car, so that may be it. I don't pay attention enough to see if my car does it.
