My wife has had her Saturn Vue in the shop for two weeks for a problem in the rear end. Going to be costly and my mechanic has said it needs to get fixed but then we need to get rid of it pretty soon. They apparently have drivetrain problems.

She had been driving our Suburban since then (which is our vehicle for towing our camper and gets 12 mpg). Today, she drove the Malibu for the first time since we got it. Guess what. Now she asked me if I would drive the 'burb until her Vue gets fixed, and to drive the Vue from then on.

Looks like we may have a second Malibu in the family. Would it look bad to have two the same color in the driveway, along with a Red Fire Metallic Suburban too? She is looking at the new Cruze and may get one once they are available. The other colors don't excite her and the local dealer has a red one just like mine on the lot.

Get a LaCrosse, much nicer then the Malibu!
We actually looked at the LaCrosse before getting the Malibu but the deal was so much better on the Malibu we couldn't pass it up. She drove both the day we test drove them and like the Malibu better. I liked both. Maybe I'll give her the Malibu and get a LaCrosse:)

I think she has decided on the Mocha Steel Metallic LTZ model with the 4 cyl instead of the 6. She test drove a 4 last night and decided it would be fine.

Now the problem is finding one. There is only one at a dealership some 100 mi. away. She is willing to order it though, which is probably the way we will go.

Well the update.

After searching around for one she likes, we found one. It is a 2010 Red Jewel Tint LTZ. The deal was excellent with a $3500 rebate and a better than expected trade in amount on the Vue. I guess we will now have his and hers red Malibu's. The only difference between the two is the VIN.

We should get together sometime and compare our 3 reds. Different year but love that color!

Yours looks to be the same as ours, only the 2011 model. We test drove a 2011 in another color. Salesman said the only differences were the gear shift knob is different (button on front rather than side) and they tweaked the head rests to conform to new govt regs.

It took only a few miles to get used to the squeeze button on the shifter being on the front instead of the side but that's fine. The manual shift paddles are missing from the steering wheel and it is now a single button on the shifter where the squeeze button used to be. It took only seconds to get used to being able to put my hand on the spoke while driving. That change is so much more of an improvement from my '09 than I had realized!

I took a 150-mile drive Sunday after picking it up Saturday evening. Every little bump kept bumping me in the head. I just couldn't get comfortable. And when I needed to check the left mirror I couldn't move my head back like I'm used to. A forum member noticed I had the cocoa/cashmere interior with the new head restraints and sent me a matching pair from an '09, so that's not an issue anymore!

I wonder. Has there ever been any talk of some kind of Malibu Meet 'n' Greet? That'd be cool if a bunch of us did that. Put a face to the names, swap stories, show off our rides and our mods. (None here yet, but there will be.)

Actually, I am kinda surprised GM hasn't tried sponsoring something like this. Much like what Saturn did back in the day. With the current GM situation, I would think it would promote some support for them.

And yes, my wife has offered up her '08 Tahoe... I am still in the "Bu"! :)

You see, this is exactly why I have not yet let my wife drive my Malibu. I would get stuck with a Honda Odyssey.
I don't have that problem...My wife is not fond of the Bu... She feels like she is siting on the ground compaired to her burban. She does like the power of the v6 though.:D

Well we have it at home now. She loves it. The trip from the dealer was about 25 miles so she had a good first drive home in it. Nothing like having twins in the driveway now.

Now she has to study the owners manual to figure out how everything works. I could tell her but she wants to do it her way.
