My wife feeds our newborn in the car a couple times a week. Is it okay to leave it idling with a/c on for 30 minutes at a time? Don't want to cause any harm. Anyone know how much gas burns at idle per hour?

No real harm, just will kill your mpg's. As long as your fans are working as they should, there really is no harm in a 30 min idle.

I'd be more concerned with exposing the little one to whatever minute amounts of chemicals present in the exhaust gas.

I can't imagine there would be that much exhaust present if its exiting the rear and the a/c is drawing from the front of the car. We don't really have a choice...he won't take a bottle and we have to travel over an hour to town (and he feeds every 2 hours). Any other options?

I guess I'm just paranoid about all the additives they put into the fuel. I'd pick the parking spot carefully with the eye toward ventilation and put the A/C in recirculation mode. I believe you can never be too careful with the little ones.

I don't see any issues with leaving the car idling... it will just burn gas. I would just make sure the car was in an open outside area (not in the garage).

Cool I won't worry about it then. We're always outside when she has to do it.
