Just got my malibu on Friday and I had set up the bluetooth to sync with my phone and it was working and last night I went out to set up my onstar account and regardless what I hit (On Star Button or Phone Button) it muted the radio and just sat there with the phone icon on display but I never got the tone or voice. after about a minute the radio came back on.

The dealer had the car yesterday detailing it and resetting a check engine light that it had from when it was sitting on the lot and now its not working. I think they may have disabled it or something but im not sure.. Any suggestions before I take it back in?

Its an 09 LTZ

Thanks

Was the car in the garage?
Nope just sitting out in the open, the XM radio was working and even in the garage the bluetooth and phone part should have worked.

If i hold the phone button on the steering wheel down for 2 seconds the phone icon displays and the radio mutes but the system never prompts me it just sits there.. Same with the onstar system

malibudragon - Are you able to make a phone call with your bluetooth? The radio gives you the access code you need in order to let the car and phone your phone connect. It should than also prompt you for a voice recognition of your bluetooth device.

I have to admit....GM did a crappy job with informaiton for setting up bluetooth....I couldn't find anything in the manual and had to just wing it to make it work....figured it out after a while.

Also it is my understanding the phone button on the steering wheel is only for your bluetooth and not for OnStar. In order to activate OnStar you have to push the button on the mirror....I could be wrong but I haven't really used OnStar while driving yet.
Yes the bluetooth worked over the weekend. I just hit the steering wheel button, say Bluetooth then pair and it synched right up with my phone. Im not getting anything now, It only mutes the radio and then just sits there. The same for the ON star system, You hit the onstar button, it mutes the radio and then just sits.

As far as setting it up, I found it in the manual and it worked just fine, I had already set everything up over the weekend and it was working. I went back about during my lunch break and the phone part is working so Im not sure what was going on with it.. I did not have a chance to try the onstar but will do that later tonight

Ok I just got home from work and tried everything and it all works, I connected up and spoke to an adviser and was able to set my on star up.. Apparently everything was shut down in between the weekend and today, I originally had the car on a weekend test drive and everything worked and then nothing worked last night but everything is back on today..

I officially went in to the dealer today to sign and pay for the car!

So all is well and the car is mine now :D
