i let my "free" trial of onstar run out three months ago. they sent me this letter and said i could renew for 150 bucks so i went for it. they told me they'd charge my card for 148 and some change. few days later i checked my bank account and had a charge for 148 and another one for 37. they charged me for the 3 months after the free trial. after some talk they dropped the 37 dollar charge but if you dont want to pay make sure you call onstar after your free trial

yeah needless to say i wasnt happy. onstar rep told me they automatically renew it to the monthly payments for your safety. say i waited a year to renew they would have charged me for a year worth. luckily they gave me my money back but i would check your bank account. it took about 3 days i believe for the second charge.

If you finally do let your OnStar expire try to do it while it's in warranty. I let mine go and I believe that caused several things to change. I could pair my phone but the next time I got in the pairing was lost. I had them fix that and all it took was reflashing. Once it's out of warranty you'll probably have to pay for that. I've seen on another thread where it costs around $150 where they had it reflashed after putting in the factory fog lights just so it would recognize the factory switch to use the factory wiring.

Also, it seems to be coincidental that when I was using remote start I couldn't extend the run time from 10 minutes to 20 while it was running; I had to wait for it to stop and then start it the second time. Now that they reflashed it, I can start it, then hit lock/start again and it will run for 20 without stopping. I believe that fixing the pairing issue also fixed the run/extend issue that I didn't realize I was having until I started a different thread about it.

Well I actually checked my account last night, and what do you know.......I had a charge from OnStar...haha! It was only like $4.25 but I will keep an eye on it these next couple of days, wouldn't want them to charge me for those 3 free months they gave me.
