I was looking at the Onstar site and they list the Chevy's that come equipped with Onstar and the plan that comes with the vehicle for one year. There are 14 Chevy Vehicles listed. Only 2 come with the premium Directions and Connections plan - the Malibu and the Traverse. Even the Corvette, Camaro, and Impala come with the inferior Safe and Sound plan. So unless you pay for the better plan ($100 more), you can not get directions or use turn by turn navigation with those cars. I believe the Corvette is double the price of the Malibu. Why would that car come with the lesser plan?

Onstar must think a lot of the Malibu to put the Directions and Connections plan on that car.

It seems like GM is really pushing the Malibu and the Traverse to compete with the imports and other companies. So, I would figure their plan is offer a little more incentive to buy. Plus, most corvette owners don't seem to drive enough to need the directions...

What about the Impala? I would put that car on par with the Malibu. Also, for the amount of money you're paying for a Corvette or Camaro, you would think they would give you the better plan.

One of my coworkers just got an '08 Impala. Onstar is giving him a free 3 month trial offer with the 30 complimentary phone minutes. Since the Impala comes with the Safe and Sound plan new, I would assume that's the plan they are giving him. It would have been nice if Onstar gave him a full year of complimentary service, but I guess 3 months is better than nothing.

One year is only for a new buy, a used buy gets you three months of XM and OnStar.
