My wife has an 06 Malibu Maxx with Onstar. A couple of weeks ago the I had to replace the original battery. There is a small light on the rear view mirrow that is usually green but my wife has noticed that sometimes it is red and sometimes it will blink red. I never noticed this before so I am not sure if it is a new thing or not but it definately has her worried. Any ideas as to what the purpose of the light is? Everything else on the car has been and is running great.

When your light is steady green, your system is ready and operating normally.
When your light is blinking green, your system is operating normally, but on a call (whether it's using your Hands-Free Calling or with an OnStar Advisor).
When your light is either steady or blinking red, then your OnStar system has found a fault with your system and may not operate properly. You should try pressing your blue OnStar button to have your system checked by the OnStar Escalation Team. If your OnStar request does not go through, it's highly recommended you bring your vehicle to a GM Goodwrench Centre as soon as possible as your OnStar system will not operate in the event of a crash or manual Emergency request.

The red light means there is something wrong with the OnStar system...give them a call to correct the problem...are you still subscribing to OnStar? If not get some black tape to cover it

Thanks, I give them a try through the car and if that doesn't work it maybe off to the dealer for repairs. Thanks again.

Red is always the sign of danger. so check it. go for good batteries
